I just wanted to tell you how grateful I am for all the advice and help you have given me over the last 20 plus years, in particular, regarding my income protection.
AS you know I have been unwell on and off for the last year or so. Being self-employed, this has put a considerable financial strain on my wife and I.
If it wasn’t for your advice to hang on to my income protection policy I would now be in a major financial crisis. I now can recover properly from my surgery and return to work when I’m fully healed instead of rushing back early and opening myself up to further complications.

I (Marie Tucci) mentioned to John that Frank had a heart attack 12 months prior but seemed to be very mild as no bypass surgery, stents or ongoing medication was administered.
John suggested we send off claim forms to see if a trauma claim could be paid. Two months later we were paid the full lump sum plus a years’ worth of premiums backdated to when Frank had his heart attack.
The cover that John recommended us is a very worthwhile insurance cover which has helped us pay off the majority of our mortgage.

My name is Russell. I am 55 and have spent my whole adult life caring for others. First as a registered nurse for 10 years and now as a paramedic with Ambulance Victoria for the past 28 years. In Jan 2018, it was my turn to be the patient. I noticed a lump the size of a marble on the right side of my neck. As a health professional, I ignored it for 2 weeks until I had it checked out and the results of that started my journey.
I began with my local doctor with multiple blood tests, a visit to a general surgeon and a biopsy. I was diagnosed with a squamous cell carcinoma of the right lymph gland. After more PET scans, tonsillectomy and heaps of tests my primary tumour was found in the base of tongue. Heartbreaking news and a surreal situation to experience.
My team was enormous and my experience with Monash Medical Moorabin/ Peter Mac was nothing short of professional and amazing. 2018 is like a blur. The good news is that 7 weeks of treatment, including radiotherapy and chemotherapy was successful and I am now cancer free!
Having 10 months off work sounds like a dream, but it was nothing of the kind. We were recommended by friends to John Buckley and his team about 10 years ago to look at life insurance. 5 years back he and Deb Batson introduced us to Trauma Insurance with Clearview. It took us a while to decide if we needed such cover.
Reading the list was a little depressive as I have never been unwell, let alone the thought of catching a life-threatening condition. Considering we have never had private health insurance we decided this was a better option. Clearview are a very professional company and followed up with an email and phone call to see how I was and that we were happy with the process. On top of the payout, they offered another $3000 to spend on financial advice which has been invaluable.
I could not celebrate at the time and not the best way to get a payout but just to know that it was going to help financially was such a bonus and I could focus on getting through my treatment.
My story has a very positive outcome. I am clear of cancer and thanks to Buckley’s we are in a positive financial position. The whole journey has made us look at life very differently and we are now just going to live.
